Providing Community Transport services in Leeds

Leeds Alternative Travel has been helping the community in Leeds to get out and about since it was founded in 1997 as an Industrial and Provident Society to provide community transport services in the city. In 2008 we joined HCT Group – one of the UK’s leading social enterprises. We provide a range of high-quality transport services for the community out of our Gelderd Road depot.

Our services include:

Minibus hire – a low cost alternative: We provide community groups, clubs and non-profit organisations in Leeds with a financially supported scheme to access cheap minibuses - Group Transport.

YourCar: A low cost, fully accessible alternative to minicab hire – designed to help people with disabilities or mobility difficulties where a regular minicab or taxi doesn’t meet all of their needs. Vehicles are fully wheelchair accessible and drivers are trained to be able to help their passengers from door to vehicle to door.

Minibus driver training: We provide Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) training, helping our community group members drive vehicles themselves, saving on having to hire a driver with their vehicle.

Passenger Assistants Training (PATS): This programme provides the nationally recognised qualification for people who are - or would like to work as - Passenger Assistants.  

CRB Checking Services: We are a registered Umbrella Body for the processing of CRB Disclosure checks and can provide that service for other organisations.
