We provide training to help people to start their careers or continue their professional development.
We offer a variety of programmes depending on funding and demand which are set out below.

BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care
The BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care is designed to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills you need to either join the profession or develop your career in the health and social care sectors. It focuses on training fro roles where you will have a responsibility to provide care for others.
The programme also provides you with opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. It also provides you with a nationally recognised qualification to enter employment in the field and with options to progress onto further study.
Course units include:
- Unit 1 – Communication in Health & Social Care
- Unit 2 – Individual Rights in Health & Social Care
- Unit 3– Individual Needs in Health & Social Care
- Unit 4 – Ensuring Safe Environment in Health & Social Care
Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATs)
PATS is the nationally recognised qualification for passenger assistants, passenger carers and other equivalent job or volunteer roles. It enables passenger assistants to work more safely, more effectively and to better exercise their Duty of Care and provides the job-specific skills needed to work in these roles.
The course lasts for one week and consists of a series of modules
The role of a passenger assistant: The heath and safety, manual handling, personal safety and emergency planning issues that passenger assistants need to be aware of.
Assisting passengers with disabilities: Background knowledge of disability issues, practical skills in safely assisting people with a particular disability, including wheelchair users and people with a sensory impairment.
Young people/adults who require care or supervision: This two-part module provides information on your responsibilities, plus practical approaches to working with:
- children and young people with special needs
- adults who require care and supervision
Train the trainer - Travel Training
Why Travel Training?
Travel training is a great way of supporting people with learning difficulties to access training or employment opportunities. Too often, people with learning difficulties experience disadvantage, not because of an inability to do a particular job or training programme, but simply because of the barriers to getting there.
Travel training equips young people with learning difficulties to travel independently, improving their long-term employability as well as promoting independence – and its avoids providing expensive door-to-door transport
Train the Travel Trainer programme
The programme takes between three and four weeks, and is designed to equip its participants with the skills and knowledge to conduct travel training programmes.
The training delivered to Travel Trainers includes:
- Skills /Risk Assessment
- Basic Awareness training
- Disability Awareness training
- Route Research/ Route Plan
- Systematic Travel Instructing
- Passenger Assistant training
- Emergency First Aid
Manual Handling for Carers
This training programme is classroom based and contains both theory and practical teaching. The course takes 2 days and covers:
- Definition of manual handling
- Moving safely
- Manual handling risk assessment explained
- Moving and handling in special situations
- How to recognise and avoid potential problems
- Responsibilities of employers and employees
- Manual handling operations regulations 1992 and safety legislation
