We recognise that getting and keeping a job is not just about qualifications or technical skills, but can be about building confidence, work-readiness and the sort of skills that help people thrive in the workplace. We run a three-level programme aimed at helping learners take the steps they need to reach employment. Each step also acts as a stand alone programme that is right for people on different stages of their journey to realising their potential.

Steps to Excellence

When it comes to choosing your next steps in life, sometimes it can be hard to work out what you could do and where to begin. Steps to Excellence is a short course to help you start unlocking your own potential.

This 4 day classroom based programme is designed to provide you with the tools for change. It aims to assist you in deciding what you want, and then in getting what you want in your personal, professional, family and community life

It will also provide you with effective thinking skills to guide your life choices, allowing you to use more of your potential and enabling you to do the things you have always wanted to do.

The course contains sessions on:

  • Breaking barriers
  • Search for the truth
  • Thought process
  • Perceptions and beliefs
  • Self-talk
  • Self-esteem
  • Comfort zones
  • What do you think about
  • Goal setting
  • Motivation
  • Affirmation
  • Staying on track (getting and keeping a job)

Employability & Work Skills

If you are feeling distant from the world of work, are nervous about what it might involve and don’t know what to expect, then this two-week course could help to boost both your confidence and employability

The programme aims to give you an introduction to the real-world work environment, providing an understanding of working life and your suitability for particular careers. It gives you practical knowledge of what real work involves and some of the skills and knowledge that will be required to become a successful employee in the workplace.

The course is classroom based and leads to a Level 1 Certificate in Employability & Work Skills.

The course has four units;

  • Preparation for Work Placement
  • Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  • Understanding Business and Enterprise
  • Developing, Demonstrating and Reflecting on Skills needed in Work Placement

Personal & Professional Development

If you’ve found it more difficult than you had hoped to make your way in the world, then our Personal and Professional development programme could be just what you’ve been looking for.

This is a 3-4 week programme leading to a Level 1 Certificate in Personal & Professional Development. Its aim is to provide you with the knowledge to make informed decisions on issues that affect your life, your career path and your goals. In addition, the last part of the programme places everything you’ve learned into the context of a particular vocational area: customer service, retail, care work, contact centre work, or business admin.

Course units include;

  • Career Development
  • Developing Self
  • Dealing with Problems in Daily Life
  • Working towards Goals
  • Working as part of a Group
  • Introduction to Vocational Area: : customer service, retail, care work, contact centre work, or business admin.
